Pointing your domain to your server

← Back to Knowledge Base

To serve your website from your new server, point your domain's DNS records at the server's IP address.

1. Find your server IP

It's in your welcome email and your control panel β€” both IPv4 (e.g. 203.0.113.10) and IPv6.

2. Add DNS records at your registrar

Log in to wherever your domain is registered (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, etc.) and create:

Type Name Value TTL
A @ 203.0.113.10 3600
A www 203.0.113.10 3600
AAAA @ your IPv6 address 3600

3. Wait for propagation

DNS changes usually take effect within minutes but can take up to 24–48 hours worldwide. Check progress with:

dig +short yourdomain.com

When it returns your server IP, you're live. Next step: secure the site with a free SSL certificate β€” see Free SSL certificates with Let's Encrypt.
